Lover

Oh my gosh, I love this boy and I love this tutu! I also love this weather. So perfect and gorgeous outside. I'm so happy because today marks my third week down of no heat in my hair. I'm sure you all can see that my out growth on my hair is horrid, but... I am not putting another 5N in my hair... nope! Soon I'd like to get a balayage done so I can work my way back to being a blonde.
My hair feels so amazing lately, and I am in love with it.
I hope you all had an amazing weekend!

Hair Diary

I must tell you guys how amazing my hair looks and feels right now! It hasn't felt like this in years. Everyday I am just so happy that I finally made the choice to use no heat for a month. I've been thinking the last few days that I want to do 2 or 3 months though. I just really want my hair to be sooo healthy. Especially because I want to eventually be blonde again. I've cut using products on my hair except for vitamin E oil, and just a tiny bit of Aragan oil after I wash my hair, which is every 3-4 days. I don't want to have any product build up, that's no good.
It's so awesome having everyone support me through this, telling me it's the best decision! Especially my boyfriend who always tells me he LOVES the way my hair looks when it's all natural. That makes me smile. He tells me everyday how proud he is of me for doing this, because he knows how hard it must be for me, because I'm such a lover of doing my hair!
Every night when I have some free time I'll just go look on Pinterest and find natural hair growing tips, and what is amazing for the health of your hair. I have still been doing the coconut oil hair mask, which I posted last week, and if you haven't tried it yet, seriously go go go! It's magical. It's working wonders in my hair right now. I'm so thankful for that mask! Seriously.
One of the things I've learned from research and have been doing on myself is a scalp massage every night after I shower. Even if I didn't wash my hair. I'll put very little vitamin E oil on my finger tips and flip my head over, or just lean back and just massage my scalp... Yes it feels amazing, and this increases blood flow to the scalp, which helps nutrients get to your follicles more quickly. It's stimulates hair growth. You can even do this while you're washing your hair.
I've also NOT been brushing my hair when it's wet. It's so easy to cause breakage when you brush your hair when it's wet. So what I do after I get out of the shower is just keep my hair wrapped in the towel for about half an hour and take it out and then just let it air dry. Sometimes I even slightly run my fingers through it so it doesn't air dry so crazy. If you insist on brushing your hair after the shower use a wide tooth comb.
I think I'm doing a really good job right now of doing all the little things to help my hair plus the big things. I'm getting so used to this, it's becoming such a happy routine for me. I still can't believe I'm finally doing it haha!
If you guys have any other tips for me, or questions, please comment or email me. Thank you!

Beauty High

As you all know I am being such a freak about my hair right now! I just found the coolest thing to try on Beauty High. It's the 30 day challenge of no shampoo. This may make some of you squirm, but the benefits of this are awesome. Instead of using shampoo, you just use a cleansing conditioner. One thing she mentions in the post that I never knew is that after you shampoo your hair and rinse, your hair isn't ever supposed to feel almost plasticky... Hard to run your fingers through. I thought that's just how shampoo made your hair feel, but when this happens it means your hair is dry. It needs hydration. Mine has definitely felt like this during the shower. A little too often!
Anyways, you all should go read the whole post here. I am definitely going to do the 30 day challenge!

My Must Haves

The great thing about jackets, tops, boots, lipsticks, etc... Is that you can almost always find a piece identical, incredibly less expensive. That is beauty. Also, sales.
These are definitely my Fall must haves. I love to stay neutral... And let my lips pop with a red lipstick. I love the little things.

Coconut Oil, Egg and Honey Hair Mask

Right now I am using absolutely no heat on my hair, which means no blow drying, straightening, curling, or waving... No heat tools. I started September 1st and I'll be doing this for the whole month. I have been needing to do this probably since my sophomore year of high school, especially because I have gone super blonde with highlights and then went dark... My hair needs a little rehab.
I thought this was going to be super hard for me because I'm such a lover of getting all dolled up, and when it comes to getting dolled up my hair is number one. I have been thinking so much lately though about how healthy I want my hair to be...to look...and feel. Same goes for my whole body.
Before I started the no heat thing I was curling or straightening my hair almost everyday, AND blow drying it. My hair just felt so dry and porous, not very healthy at all. Now that I haven't been putting any heat on my hair it has become so much easier to get ready in the mornings! Not to mention- so much quicker. I've been loving it. Once this month is over I think I'll only be putting heat on my hair once a week just because I have learned to make my hair look just as great when it air dries. I never thought I would say that! This is practically a dream come true for me.
So, I've been doing a coconut oil hair mask twice a week that I swear by. I know a few girls that have used this on their hair and it has completely changed the look and feel of their hair. Their hair has grown almost dramatically! I also have done a ton of research and have only heard such positive things and outcomes. This might be a little crazy for me to say but I have only done this mask twice and my hair hasn't felt this luscious and silky in years! I can't stop touching it. It's magical. And I can't wait to see the progress my hair makes during this whole month. I also have only been washing my hair about 2 or 3 times a week... This is extremely healthy as well for your hair and that's because when you wash your hair everyday you are stripping the natural oils from your hair that it needs for your hair to actually grow, and your hair can become very dry from washing it everyday.
If you are needing some hair rehab like me and are wanting to try this coconut oil hair mask, here is what you'll need and how to do it-

  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of raw honey
  • 1 large egg yolk
First you will place the 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a microwaveable bowl, and if it is solid from being in room temp, microwave it for about 30 seconds and then whisk.
Place the 2 tablespoons of raw honey in with the coconut oil, and microwave again for 30 seconds if the raw honey is solid. Whisk after.
Then you will only need the egg yolk, and place it in the bowl with the oil and honey. Whisk until it is combined well.

I think the easiest way to cover your whole head in the mask is parting your hair section by section and covering all your scalp first and massaging it in. Then I will just go through the mid shaft to ends and cover the rest of my hair. After that is done I will flip my head over and just massage it all in more to make sure all my hair is super saturated and has good coverage. Leave the mask in your hair for 20-30 minutes. I usually leave mine in a bit longer, then shampoo and condition your hair. And your finished! The smell of the mask isn't very pleasant, but you just gotta tough it out. :)

Please comment or email me if you have any questions! Good luck lovelies.. Xoxo
P.s. Happy Monday!

Oil pulling

If you haven't heard of oil pulling, it is almost like using oil as a mouth wash. It is claimed to whiten teeth, give you fresher breath and lead to massive improvements in oral health. When I heard about oil pulling I was instantly drawn to it not only because of it improving my oral health, but because I love to try out all the at-home teeth whitening remedies. Last summer I did the banana peel teeth whitening and seriously loved it so much.
I'm going to do the oil pull for 20 days and I'm only on my third day and can already see AND feel improvement! I chose to use coconut oil because it actually has a pleasant taste and the health benefits of it.
All you do is put a tablespoon of oil in your mouth and swish it around for 15-20 minutes, when your time is up spit it out and then brush your teeth after. Don't swallow any of the oil while swishing it in your mouth, you don't want to swallow the bacteria you are trying to get rid of!
The first night I did it, I found it rather disgusting having all the oil in my mouth but I totally got used to it super quick. Knowing how much it is benefitting my oral health makes it worth it and will motivate me every night to do it.
If you use coconut oil like me, you might have to chew it a bit because it is solid at room temperature. Don't worry it turns to liquid so fast! If you have any questions please comment or email me. Good luck!

The hair thing...

For you all that don't follow me on instagram and don't know about my big hair disaster, my hair is now very dark! About 2 months ago I made the biggest mistake of trying to put in a few highlights in my hair on my OWN, and it turned out to be crazy. Long story short… I was so upset that I just put a 5N in my hair, and of coarse my super blonde hair soaked all that color up! Yes I have totally learned my lesson, and yes I actually love my dark hair. I'd rather stay super positive about it and rock it for now, then be bummed about it all the time. Eventually I'll have my blonde hair back! So i'm looking forward to that haha.
Just last week I got a balayage done, and I love it. Just some sun kissed ends.
