Coconut Oil, Egg and Honey Hair Mask

Right now I am using absolutely no heat on my hair, which means no blow drying, straightening, curling, or waving... No heat tools. I started September 1st and I'll be doing this for the whole month. I have been needing to do this probably since my sophomore year of high school, especially because I have gone super blonde with highlights and then went dark... My hair needs a little rehab.
I thought this was going to be super hard for me because I'm such a lover of getting all dolled up, and when it comes to getting dolled up my hair is number one. I have been thinking so much lately though about how healthy I want my hair to be...to look...and feel. Same goes for my whole body.
Before I started the no heat thing I was curling or straightening my hair almost everyday, AND blow drying it. My hair just felt so dry and porous, not very healthy at all. Now that I haven't been putting any heat on my hair it has become so much easier to get ready in the mornings! Not to mention- so much quicker. I've been loving it. Once this month is over I think I'll only be putting heat on my hair once a week just because I have learned to make my hair look just as great when it air dries. I never thought I would say that! This is practically a dream come true for me.
So, I've been doing a coconut oil hair mask twice a week that I swear by. I know a few girls that have used this on their hair and it has completely changed the look and feel of their hair. Their hair has grown almost dramatically! I also have done a ton of research and have only heard such positive things and outcomes. This might be a little crazy for me to say but I have only done this mask twice and my hair hasn't felt this luscious and silky in years! I can't stop touching it. It's magical. And I can't wait to see the progress my hair makes during this whole month. I also have only been washing my hair about 2 or 3 times a week... This is extremely healthy as well for your hair and that's because when you wash your hair everyday you are stripping the natural oils from your hair that it needs for your hair to actually grow, and your hair can become very dry from washing it everyday.
If you are needing some hair rehab like me and are wanting to try this coconut oil hair mask, here is what you'll need and how to do it-

  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of raw honey
  • 1 large egg yolk
First you will place the 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a microwaveable bowl, and if it is solid from being in room temp, microwave it for about 30 seconds and then whisk.
Place the 2 tablespoons of raw honey in with the coconut oil, and microwave again for 30 seconds if the raw honey is solid. Whisk after.
Then you will only need the egg yolk, and place it in the bowl with the oil and honey. Whisk until it is combined well.

I think the easiest way to cover your whole head in the mask is parting your hair section by section and covering all your scalp first and massaging it in. Then I will just go through the mid shaft to ends and cover the rest of my hair. After that is done I will flip my head over and just massage it all in more to make sure all my hair is super saturated and has good coverage. Leave the mask in your hair for 20-30 minutes. I usually leave mine in a bit longer, then shampoo and condition your hair. And your finished! The smell of the mask isn't very pleasant, but you just gotta tough it out. :)

Please comment or email me if you have any questions! Good luck lovelies.. Xoxo
P.s. Happy Monday!

Oil pulling

If you haven't heard of oil pulling, it is almost like using oil as a mouth wash. It is claimed to whiten teeth, give you fresher breath and lead to massive improvements in oral health. When I heard about oil pulling I was instantly drawn to it not only because of it improving my oral health, but because I love to try out all the at-home teeth whitening remedies. Last summer I did the banana peel teeth whitening and seriously loved it so much.
I'm going to do the oil pull for 20 days and I'm only on my third day and can already see AND feel improvement! I chose to use coconut oil because it actually has a pleasant taste and the health benefits of it.
All you do is put a tablespoon of oil in your mouth and swish it around for 15-20 minutes, when your time is up spit it out and then brush your teeth after. Don't swallow any of the oil while swishing it in your mouth, you don't want to swallow the bacteria you are trying to get rid of!
The first night I did it, I found it rather disgusting having all the oil in my mouth but I totally got used to it super quick. Knowing how much it is benefitting my oral health makes it worth it and will motivate me every night to do it.
If you use coconut oil like me, you might have to chew it a bit because it is solid at room temperature. Don't worry it turns to liquid so fast! If you have any questions please comment or email me. Good luck!

The hair thing...

For you all that don't follow me on instagram and don't know about my big hair disaster, my hair is now very dark! About 2 months ago I made the biggest mistake of trying to put in a few highlights in my hair on my OWN, and it turned out to be crazy. Long story short… I was so upset that I just put a 5N in my hair, and of coarse my super blonde hair soaked all that color up! Yes I have totally learned my lesson, and yes I actually love my dark hair. I'd rather stay super positive about it and rock it for now, then be bummed about it all the time. Eventually I'll have my blonde hair back! So i'm looking forward to that haha.
Just last week I got a balayage done, and I love it. Just some sun kissed ends.

Everything sweet in a mug...

Last summer I discovered all of the deserts in a mug and literally fell head over heels in love with all of them. I am such a huge sweet lover. I'm not kidding when I say I eat something sweet and crazy everyday! Haha I just can't help it. Anyways, my favorite is brownie in a mug because chocolate is my all time favorite and these are so little and satisfy my little craving! These are seriously perfect.
So for a while I've been searching for the BEST recipe for brownie in a mug and holy cow, I have found it and YES, you need to go make this right now! I love inviting my boyfriend over and putting on our favorite movie and making this. If your boyfriend is a sweet lover as well… he'll die over this.
It's super easy and quick! Literally just 5 minutes. Here it is!
P.S. This brownie is even better in a super duper cute mug :)

Ingredients:
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons water
dash of salt
mug
microwave

Add the flour, sugar, cocoa, and salt to the mug and mix well. Make sure there are no clumps! After you're done mixing place in the microwave for about 1 minute. It could be a little less or more than one minute depending on your microwave, but the brownie should still be wet on the inside.
Usually it's very hot once it's done, so let it sit for a couple of minutes to cool.
Also, adding a couple scoops of ice cream on top makes it a million times better… enjoy, it's okay to get chocolate wasted!
